Our Boat

Run to Paradise, was the first of the 46′ Martzcraft series, and was built by Don Binkins and Brent Martz in 1998 as a 12 berth dive boat. We would like to thank Don for building such a beautiful boat and the subsequent two owners for their obvious love and care in converting her to a family orientated blue water cruiser. We now take over that responsibility as we prepare for our own cruising dream.

During 2019 Dean raised the pilot berth so the house battery bank is accessible and secure and additional storage available. He also added a fold out work bench that has tool storage behind it.

During 2020 we have done lot of work on the boat since our cruising plans were curtailed due to Covid-19. First we got new rigging through Rope Solutions, and changed to a cutter rig configuration. And we also got all new sails including an asymmetric, shown below in its sock that works wonderfully.

We took the boat onto the hard at The Boat Works, Gold Coast. Here we had a bow thruster installed by Per Andresen and his team from Kingfisher Cruisers who did a marvellous job. I LOVE our bow thruster!

Our major upgrade was a new engine. The footprint was slightly different but Dean made the necessary adjustments to perfection and it fit like a glove and works beautifully.

We also installed a Rutland Wind Charger. Thank you mum for this most generous gift to us.

We added “granny bars” for safety at sea when working on the sails and they also double as a bit of a leg up for us shorties! But seriously we find them great for stability.
